Nanumba North is one of the twenty (26) districts in the Northern Region of Ghana. The district shares boundaries with East Gonja District to the west and south-west, Yendi Municipal to the north. To the east, it shares boundaries with Zabzugu District, to the south with kpandai District and to the south east with the Nanumba South. The administrative district capital is Bimbilla. The district was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I) 1754.
The district is occupied by two major ethnic groups, namely the Nanumbas and Konkonbas and a few Basares and other minority tribes with the Nanumbas forming the dominant ethnic group. Therefore major languages spoken are Nanumba and Konkomba.
The population of the district according to 2010 population and housing census stands at 141,584 with 69,997 males and 71,587 females.
