The Ada East forms part of the sixteen (16) Metropolitan, Municipals and Districts of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. The District is located in the Eastern part of the Greater Accra Region within Latitudes 5°45 south and 6°00 north and from Longitude 0°20 west to 0°35 East and West respectively. The District was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I) 2029.
At the south is the Gulf of Guinea, which stretches over 45 kilometres (27.9 miles). Ada Foah, the District Capital is located at the south-eastern part, about 20km off the Accra-Aflao road, along the coast and about 2km from the Volta River Estuary. Other major settlements are Big Ada, Kasseh, Got, Anyamam, Lolonya, Akplabanya, Wokumagbe and Koluedor.The District shares boundaries with Central Tongu to the North , South Tongu to the West, Ada West to the West and to the south with the Golf of Guinea.
The population of the district according to 2010 population and housing census stands at 71,671 with 34,012 males and 37,659 females.
